Transport
Many pupils travel each day to the Academy by bus. Pupils are
expected to be on their best behaviour while travelling to and from
school in order that no discredit is brought to the Academy and that
others can travel in safety. The right to free travel can be
removed since it is conditional on good behaviour.
Free travel
is provided to the normal territorial school for pupils who have to
travel more than three miles. Parents who choose to send their
child to a different school must pay any transport costs involved
unless arrangements can be made with the Education Authority.
The school office can assist with any enquiries.
In the event of transport not appearing
The
school telephone is manned from 8.00am. If transport fails to
appear by five minutes after the normal time, then please contact the
school and enquire as to what has happened.
Should the pick-up
point be a distance from your home please contact the school before
leaving home if you anticipate that there may be a problem with
transport.
Throughout all of these statements, the safety and
well being of pupils is considered paramount. Please ensure that
your child knows what to do and where they should go if the
school is closed for an emergency. The Adverse Weather Conditions
Procedure would then come into force, please refer to the following
page for further information.
Should school buses be unable to
leave their base then bus drivers are asked to contact the school as
early as possible so that parents who telephone can be kept informed.
